Whether used as a compositional tool, depicted as a physical phenomenon, or interpreted as a spiritual symbol, light is a constant, uniting force across art mediums. In showing either hope, haunting darkness, or something in between, light acts as a communicator. Reflected, refracted, or diffused, it contains its own beauty as a subject. Allowing science and art to speak together, Light as Material showcases creative interpretations of light’s interaction with space and its deeper narrative impact. The artwork shown catches, transforms, and celebrates the common yet extraordinary element of light.
An annual exhibition at GFS, this year’s Members’ Musings is the fifteenth show featuring artwork exclusively by members. In addition to supporting the arts, many GFS members are gifted artists themselves. This exhibition showcases the diversity of our membership through their varied artistic creations and unique inspirations.
