Create your own lightweight, stone-like planter using hypertufa in this fun, hands-on workshop! Hypertufa is made by using a combination of natural materials such as peat moss and perlite, mixed with cement, and molded to form a rustic stone vessel that will enhance your garden year-round. Hypertufa planters are perfect for rock gardens, hardy succulents, and miniature conifer forests. Join GFS Horticulturist Jen Mothes to learn mixing and molding techniques and how to cure your hypertufa at home. Remember to wear clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty! All materials are provided to craft one hypertufa planter (no plants included). Admission included.
Instructor: Jen Mothes, Horticulturist, has been a member of the Horticulture team at GFS since 2022 and is currently pursuing her degree in Ornamental Horticulture. Jen believes that everything is connected, yet we have forgotten our ancient, biological need to connect with nature. Taking time to slow down, notice, and share the small wonders of our world has the power to teach us empathy and heal that broken connection.
