Join us for an artistic exploration of the ways in which personal storytelling and artmaking intertwine. In this creative workshop, you will craft your own wire tree sculptures drawing inspiration from the symbolic natural elements of Petah Coyne’s Untitled #1383 (Sisters – Two Trees). In this masterpiece, Coyne incorporates elements of personal history, mythology and literature to create a narrative juxtaposing beauty and darkness along with chaos and stillness.
Trees have long been a symbol of growth, resilience, and transformation. Using aluminum wire or pipe cleaners, beads, fabric, and other natural materials, you will create a tree that reflects your own personal narrative – each branch telling the story of who you are. Reflect on your own life’s journey, your dreams for the future, or retell your favorite piece of literature. Each added detail will deepen the symbolism of your personal tree tale. This drop-in workshop invites all ages to create together.
Children’s educational programming at Grounds For Sculpture is supported in part by Nancy and Stephen Hovnanian and PNC Foundation.
