Creating Connections: Botanical Studies In Color

ONSITE: Dates – September 9, 16, 23, 30 October 7, 14.

Designed for adults 55+, this six-session workshop explores the path to coloring your botanical drawings and paintings. Techniques for developing more finished work from field studies will include transferring your drawings, using watercolor and gouache, and rendering light, shadow, and detail in color. Spend time sketching outdoors at the Grounds, as well as work from live cuttings and photographic reference when needed.

Instructor: Erin Ellis is an award-winning lettering artist and illustrator from New Jersey who fell in love with drawing plants while living in New Zealand. Erin’s type and illustration work has been commissioned for clients such as Facebook, Pottery Barn, Lululemon, and The Jet Propulsion Laboratory. She has led workshops and exhibited her artwork in Philadelphia, New York, and San Francisco and Oakland, as well as in New Zealand. The bulk of her personal work continues to reference botanical subject matter. erinellis.com
