This intergenerational adult program is designed for those interested in The Act of Drawing as a form of wellness. Drawing and painting increases our visual awareness and activates fine motor skills. Experience these rewarding benefits while learning fundamental art making techniques that incorporate mindfulness and observation. Students will participate in open discussion about their work within a supportive environment. This is a drop in program. Participants can sign up for one session or all sessions based on your schedule.
No experience necessary.

THE ACT OF DRAWING
Drawing can offer a sense of respite and clear the mind.
The natural world will serve as a resource for learning about elements of drawing both in and out of the studio. We will explore the values and line qualities inherent in charcoal and pencil with fun sketching prompts and experiment with various drawing techniques.
Students will develop abstract or representational drawings that highlight their intention and style.
Silence your inner critic and embrace the process of drawing.

Instructor: Shawn Allen-Dela Rosa is a Teaching Artist who believes all people have an inherent desire to make something they care about and can find the motivation to do so in a group setting. For over twenty-five years, she has created environments for learning that support a fundamental action of art, creating personal connections inside worlds others have made. Shawn co-founded the Lifelong Learning Center at Chandler Hall Health Services, and has taught Art classes for Michener Museum, The Delaware Valley Arts Institute, and Grounds For Sculpture. She has received awards for Drawing in juried exhibitions at Phillips Mill Gallery in New Hope, PA and the Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia.
