8 Sessions: Saturdays – March 11, 18, 25; April 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29
Learn how to build a large vessel with the coil and pinch technique. Aesthetic choices can reference anything from vessels, baskets, reliquaries, and urns. Use form and function to translate your container into a finished vessel. All levels of experience are welcome.
Instructor: Akiko Jackson is from Kahuku, a rural north shore community on the island of O’ahu, Hawai’i. She holds an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of the Arts and is a current Artist in Residence at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia. She teaches at Tyler School of Art & Architecture, Maryland Institute College of Art, and Rowan University. Jackson has been the recipient of fellowships and residencies throughout the country and lives in Philadelphia.
