Rob Fisher studied science, engineering, visual art and the humanities at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and received a master’s degree in Industrial Design from Syracuse University. Fisher’s sculptures have been included in numerous exhibitions in the United States and Japan, especially in those exploring the partnership of computers and art. He received numerous commissions to create sculptures, often of industrial materials, by corporate and private collectors. A pioneer in the application of the computer to large-scale architectural sculpture, he was appointed Senior Research Artist at Carnegie Mellon University from 1997-2001 where he directed several innovative interactive planetarium shows that unite the fields of science and art. He also completed a monumental and widely acclaimed public art commission, entitled American Dream, for the Arrivals Hall of the Philadelphia International Airport. Rob Fisher was also a member of the International Sculpture Center’s Board of Directors.
